About Us

Welcome to our farm
My husband Martin and I raise beef cattle and Appaloosa horses,I am also in partnership with my good friend Debra on our Appaloosa Stallion Windwalkers Cactus.Beyond that Martin is a full time pipefitter and I work as a mental health Aide. Not sure where I am going with this blog but I thought it might be fun to chronicle our experiences here at Fern Valley Farms. Hubby and I are also approved and waiting to adopt one or two children , so this might prove to be one wild ride!Feel free to join in the fun!

The Boys have their new digs

Just a quick post today.

The boys are finally in the new pan,and I think I have found an Eurus proof space(touch wood) the panels are still tall enough to discourage any random "leaps of insanity" and they seem happy and settled .They are at the top of the hill but sheltered by the old log house and the brush on 3 sided so I may not need to build a windbreak for them.

Also got the extra load of feed delivered last week . Splitting this with my sister in law , these are the $9.50 bales that weigh around 80-90 lbs . Nice hay and I feel better having that little bit extra around.
That is one tallll stack .Martin went up the ladder to tarp it while I panicked on the ground holding ropes! Sure enough as soon as he got to the top holding that huge tarp ,the wind started ! he got down safely and the hay is covered , but yikes!
Have a great weekend all , I am off tho the CFR(rodeo) tonight YEEHAW!
