Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

Just to tide us over

We  got hit  again  on  Monday  with  a snowfall,  not so much  snow  but winds and  dang is it  cold. I was  muttering that I would not take  pictures of the  storm or  the aftermath but , there  was  Johnny and co making  some  cool photo ops on  Monday  so I snapped  a few and  promptly  forgot I had them  til  tonight! (it't what  happens  when your  brain freezes!)
So until it's safe to go back out  for anything more than  chores (and  spoiled me has hubby home  this week to help out !) this will have to do . All  are  doing OK in the weather, lots of  groceries (as you can see) and fresh water along  with  windbreaks these tough Alberta bred  ponies are doing fine!

Andee has  her "wild child" on

Not your  average  cattle dog, but he works
The "actual "cattle  dog saying , hurry up !!! its  coolllddd!!!!

Stay warm and  safe  friends

They had a joyful romp in the snow. I like the black vignetting around the snow photos.

Love the pics Sherry! Your beautiful ponies look happy, fat and sassy!! They are laughing in the face of Mother Nature. :) They sure do have their winter woolies on, don't they? Just adorable. And Winston makes a fine cattle dog, I'd say...stay warm my friend.
We are cold here too. Down to 18 degrees F last night, and that's seriously cold for us here in the valley. I love it! Clear, blue skies and sunshine oh my!!

I'm not sure how you can handle your winters. I'd freeze! We're having cold weather and possibilities of snow right now.

Ha, those are great. Love the one of the horse rolling around on its back :-) We don't have snow yet but darn cold, will probably hit zero by tomorrow night.

Is it even possible to take a bad picture of such beautiful spotted horses? Not looking forward to the cold getting here.
