Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

"It's best to ride the horse in the direction it is going"

Time seems to keep on flying by, I have meant so often to blog,or to do many things. But somehow I seem pretty busy and when I sit down at the end of the day ... well I just sit down.
I did a little writing, but never seem to get back into the swing of blogging. I am not quitting,I am just giving in a little to the flow of life right now.I hope I will eventually get back into writing regularly again, but like the quote in the title,I think its best not to force things. Also with the Equine therapy, I have been doing a lot less of it of late, I have no intention of stopping but this summer has been a bit more about healing me I guess and taking my time with things.
When it is right I will do it .

Meanwhile we got the September cover of Saddle Up magazine again! SO out I went with the camera to see what I could come up with...
First I went to the Rusty Horshoe to see The filly by Cactus from this spring and the yearling colt

This kid reminds me of Dandy!

then home to grab a few shots

If you dont already know, and you want to see who was the cover model, click on  the link to see! Saddle up

Also was blessed to attend the wedding of a dear friend of mine to wrap up August! we met just a few years ago lol (when we were 13!)  SO glad we were able to reconnect. Her mom was like a second mom to me, and she ,her sisters and I pretty much grew up together. We all have lost touch over the years but reconnected after "Mom Brown passed"
Couple of kids all grown up!
"Mom Browns" girls, together again, only missing mom and baby sister Bonnie ,who were with us in our hearts and as our angels.

That's all for now, stay safe friends !

That's so great that they give you the fall cover. It loos great! Gotta have some colour in there!
I got a chuckle out of the bride's choice of footwear.

There are so few people blogging any more, Facecrack seems to have obliterated most people's creative urge when it comes to writing blog posts. I'm kinda stubborn and I'm not about to give up my blog- I always wanted to have a diary as a kid so I guess my blog fulfills that role. Plus it's so much easier to find things- posts, photos- on a blog than it is on Facebook.
Glad you're hanging in there!

Glad to see a post from you. :)

I'm not going to stop blogging either. Also for diary reasons. And because I like it, dammit.

Isn't it awesome to connect with old friends? It's like you've never been apart.

It's great to hear from you! Congrats on the cover, how awesome!! Glad you are taking time for yourself and whatever moves you. Shirley mentioned "Facecrack" what a fitting name, never heard that one before.

Facecrack is a new one to me too, but it fits! Along with Fakebook & Flakebook.

So glad you ladies were able to reconnect. Maybe it was Mama Brown's idea to go about it this way? It may not have otherwise. Hugs and Congrats! The cover shot rocks

So good to hear from you again Sherry! I see your posts on FB (love all the other perfect names too), but they're just not the same as our blogs. I have no intentions of quitting, I love my blog for the same reasons already mentioned. My blog is my journal of life and I really enjoy the intimacy of blogs over that "other" place. :) Those babies are nice looking - all of them! And your horses are always beautiful and in fine form. Congratulations on the cover - how awesome is that!? Take care, enjoy your life and stay with us, please? We'd miss you...

That is so cool you are on the magazine cover again it looked great. As does the filly and yearling you went to see.

Wedding looks like fun nice to have an excuse to get together again.

I am still blogging too although rather irregular, seems so much else is going on but Im sticking in here too.

I fell off the blogging planet this summer too. Everything horse related has been kind of a struggle this year and I dislike talking about the negatives all the time, so I just shut up, put my head down and try and get through it. Oddly enough, I am even less inclined to say anything on fb. Pictures of my 2 golden kids are about all anyone gets. LOL.
