Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

If you build it , they will come

That is to say "if you adopt 2 or 3 orphan kittens and make a bed in the barn for them ,more will follow "
First there was Orange, grey and Little Blackie . The we sadly lost Little Blackie (and I have not named the others ,safer for them I figure)
A few days in the old Momma came home , thin battered and lame , but alive and HUNGRY!
OK I thought , we were short of cats all of a sudden, it was nice to have the old darlin home, and I had fallen for Orange and Grey.
Then Yesterday hubby says "there is a calico kitten" and sure enough there was .(I call the orange and black only  tortoiseshell but whatever ) So suddenly we have 4 cats .Until today...

And there are a couple more I didn't get pics of ! As you can see some are "Poly dactyl"(Thanks Lisa and RDA ) and others  just have regular tiny kitten feet.Either way they are all super cute!

Starting to think that there is a light or a sign over this place inviting kittens to safe harbor.Kind a like the light for the "Bat cave " only this is the "cat cave"

Oh well they are here now I will do my best to take care of them and find a few of them  homes . The rest can be lifers here if they want .I like cats , I just can't have dozens of them.

Stay safe everyone

The little gray has such beautiful eyes. There was a time when we had about 20 stray cats in our neighborhood. The older ones were too wild to trap and neuter, but if I could get a hold of a new litter while they were still kittens, I could tame them and find homes for them where they would get neutered or spayed.

Oooo! I'd love to have the polydactyl calico with the white markings. If you still have her after old Bubby passes on, I might have to come and get her.

Do any of the pictures have the same kittens in them? So how many are there in all? I know the little grey and white one in the bottom 2 pics is the same...but the 2 pictures above that...is that the same kitten? Or are is it 2 different kittens I can't tell, if the markings are identical or just similar. And in one picture the right front paw has the extra digits, and in the other picture, it's the left front paw. However, in both pictures, the other paw is obscured. So I still can't tell, if it's 2 different kittens, or if it's just different angled pictures of the same little sweetheart.

All of them...however many there are... lol... are adorable! :)

I think I have a couple duplicates but at he end of the day I think I have shown 6 of them , there are at least 8 as far as I know. There is another grey kitten with a bib , and I think another pale calico . Possibly andother orange or two...
Many , all sweet and adorable
The calico with the white you are asking about is the same kitten in both shots , she has 7 toes on each of all four feet

Thanks for clarifying about the calico. I was straining my eyes to try to figure it out. :) She's beautiful. She looks like a patchwork quilt!

I'm glad the mama showed up for you. Poor thing must be so glad she showed up, too! That's a lot of babies to be looking out for on your own! :)

Oh my goodness! Cuteness!
My son's girlfriend just got a kitten and she keeps it at his house. My daughter is house-sitting this weekend and was just telling me that the kitten is tearing the place up! That's just one kitten! I'm sure my son wishes he could make her a barn cat. :-)

Sounds like, just like Ernest Hemingway, you are a little magnet for the special kitties who need help...just so happens some of them are those unique "Mitten Kittens" that Ernest Hemingway was so enamored with. *grin*

Well, the good thing is that with your nee furry guests, your place will be varmit-free. :)
