Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

Minor musings

Smiles

Take the time
Once in a while
To just be the reason
For a stranger to smile

 Give them your hand
Open the door
Or offer some shelter
From a downpour

In a world that’s so busy
And hustling about
Our minds become selfish
We never look out

But take just a moment
Now and again
To open our hearts
Let kindness shine in

If each of us took
This one little task
What could we gain?
Do you have to ask?

A little more joy,
Out there to be found
And many more smiles
If you just look around

 But please don’t forget
To keep it on track
When they smile at you
You smile right back

Smiles don't cost a cent, and they burn calories!

Thanks, FV, great poetry, as always.

So true! I feel better about everything when I'm kind and loving toward people than the other. We ALL need to be that way more often.

So true! The hardest part is to smile when you feel like biting the head off of someone who is being a jerk. It's hard to remember that maybe that person just needs more loving kindness in their life.

Thats a great poem and a great reminder.

I forgot to email you about putting up wainscotting, it was super easy, the hardest part is cutting out the electrical outlets, after that we just used construction adhesive and a few nails and it was up!
