Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

I am a slacker!!!

Yikes! its Oct 5 already ! I am sooo far behind I might never catch up!
Mom asked me the other day "Are you not doing calenders this year?" Oh! crap!!! I was planning to, but it seems I keep thinking I have time . Well now if I am gonna do it , I better get at it , because , they take time to put together then about 2 weeks for Staples to make them . If I am shipping them anywhere ...
That  all said, I will not be able to do a leisurely calender series this year . If anyone has any photos that they recall and really want to see in the calender let me know .
I will do a calender contest again as well. Anyone who posts on any of the posts related to calenders over the next while will have their name in the draw ,I will draw for 4  winners at the end !
I also have to get the registrations for Comet and Quinn done, and will likely be weaning them this weekend .Will be sorting and shipping calves on Monday as well .
Yup the fall is upon us , I better get started gathering nuts!

Also , apologies to all my fellow bloggers, if your comments seem to go missing ,it is Blogger being weird and randomly putting them into spam,I have nbeen checking regularly and fixing it . I also have had trouble  commenting on a few of my favs , Blogger, please??
So if I seem to be ignoring you , I am not ! Stay safe!

I just filed my stallion report last week, so I guess that means I'm a slacker too.

Everytime I look at the date I cant believe its that late either! I sure wish summer would last longer though. We still have a couple weeks before we wean calves but the foal may get weaned nest week I hope.

I think you're amazing. For a slacker. ;)

Need lots of colt pics for that calendar, I think.

You? A Slacker? No way!

It's just how fast this time of year zooms by.
Just a couple weeks ago I was feeling down and sad about the loss of summer and most folks seemed to think I was being too negative. But they just don't understand how short-lived Autumn is for us in these mountains. Heck! It's only the first week of October and we're expecting snow this weekend!

And I still have so much to do to prepare for winter...and it's already here!

But, it's soooo much fun to be a slacker sometimes, right? You deserve it my dear one!!
Relax, all the important stuff always gets done. It's just our nature to stress about everything we have, or think we have to do. *sigh* I can relate. :) Can't wait to see which lovely pics you select for you calendar. I have trouble posting sometimes too...damned blogger!!
