Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

Nearly there!

Martin and I brought the tree in this morning to get things going on the decorations . As you can see we had some additional technical support making sure the stand was straight!
"a little to the left dad!"
The Martin went shopping and left me with the rest .I took my time and got most of it done

My snow baby display

the view from the dining room to the kitchen
(last year , my nativity sat there , but as I said then the shoe box I had made for a creche was pretty dilapidated , and it did not come down well. hoping to make a new one for this year )

 A whimsical display of bears

My Christmas village and  Santa train

My Carousel display , the Calliope is a little temperamental after 25 years and only plays at one volume (used to be able to turn it down or mute )but it is still going strong

 My dining room table
The Tree

And it just is not Christmas until my Grandma Horricks ' church is set out .It plays Silent night , when you wind it up. and sometimes during a particularly magical moment it plays all on its own!
I  have a few other  displays set up , but it was dark when I was done and they don't photograph well  in poor light .
Anyhow we are getting caught up , still have the cards to write and some baking to do ,but it seems manageable .
Stay safe and warm my friends

Sounds like we are on the same schedule. Finished decorating, working on card, but when to do the shopping? I like Tigger in with the bears.

You are far, far, FAR ahead of me. I haven't even set the tree up yet...and if my MIL wasn't coming for Christmas I probably wouldn't even bother this year.

I'm not feeling Scrouge-ish...it's just going to be a very quiet holiday this year.

I'm with Linda, can I just come there your house is so pretty, love the decorations. I like all the different areas. Skeeter looks very helpful...it took me a few seconds to figure that out....to funny. I would say he's a little excited about Christmas.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in your home. You have some beautiful and creative displays. I don't have any Christmas Collections, but I do buy my hubby and kidlets a new ornament each year, so we have a wonderful tradition of placing each ornament on our tree and reminiscing about Christmases past.
Such a great family story about your Grandpa's church playing on it's own sometimes.
I love your dining room tablecloth and chairs. The chairs remind me of harps. So lovely in their design.
