Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. If it ain't broke ...

So it seems Blogger is making some changes again. Sigh

I have kind of  been of the opinion,"if its not broke , don't fix it"
A while back  several folk were having trouble commenting on blogs that did not have a pop up window
and others (myself included ) found the only option was to update to Chrome in order to read and or comment . Now the word verification has changes and is a royal pain in the arse!

Several bloggers have declined to comment on blogs that have that  as a requirement . I get that it helps prevent spam, but I think it did before the changes so not sure what the difference is .I have chosen not to use  it, and I find that the spam , get forwarded to the spam folder  quite quickly after it is reported once. That said occasionally regular comments are wrongly sent there so I check it  now and then to make sure to keep  the good stuff

Now the comment form has changed. I usually "subscribe by email" to the blogs I comment on , often I am not at my desk , and I get email on my phone so when I have a few minutes down time I can quickly check in to see whats going on,if I have asked a question or been asked I know to follow it up. the new comment form  has no option for this so now I would have to go back to each and see . Also those blogs that moderate comments , are fine, but a dear friend of mine is ill and one of the ways I kind of "check in " is to see if she has  posted new comments . again, with the new form can't do it .
Oh well, I am sure it is a part of an improvement plan, but I really would love it if they stopped "fixing " it

Anyway I will leave you with a picture of my "golden boys" Soaking up a little sun

Stay safe and warm

Your golden boys are beautiful and I agree the whole blogger comment thing is a pain ....some of those double words are just impossible to read

Well,I guess the alternative is to start writing letters again:)

I hear you on the new verification codes but I hardly ever checked the box because in the days of snailish like internet I could take the influx of mail....that's why I always emailed everyone individually....now Wordpress doesn't use code and I've decided to change my practices too. Love your golden boys.....Winston included;)

I hear ya!There is also a new way of doing the sidebar that they are promoting, they call it dynamic view.

I agree, the new word verification is a PITA (Pain in the arse)! I had that for a while and got rid of it when my husband told me it annoyed him. ha! That was almost a year ago.

Funny about the word verification code, since it has changed I have not had a problem with it, but would rather still not have to enter it at all too. I wish they would leave stuff alone too sure would be nice.

I don't do the word verification, moderation or any of it on my blogs. We are all adults, right?

Spam can be deleted pretty quickly and I also don't have anything shot to my inbox either. With everything else in it (and life too), it fills up fast enough.

Otherwise- I hear ya. If it is working, leave it the Hell alone!

Sorry if I am a bit touchy on this subject right now. A lot of stuff around me has been changed lately, 'fixed', upgraded and I find myself frustrated that none of it works like it used to. My mantra right now is this- "It's just different. Not better, not worse, just different..."

*gritting my teeth*

I haven't used WV for quite a while now. It's annoying and I can control what comments get in so I can't see much of a use for it. Another thing that is either gone or I'm too lazy to figure out how to get it back is the option to click another link so I can remember what was written on the post. Sometimes get in the middle of commenting and need to make sure of something that was written. My brain doesn't hold a whole lot of information. :(

Seems like everything is changing, and not always for the better. I dumped facebook the other day. Completely deactivated my account. I finally decided I couldn't stand to have to deal with that new timeline profile so I'm on the "outside" again. I went over my blog the other day and also got rid of the word verification for comments on mine.
