Well here we are , first calf of out 2012 season! Nice little heifer, born this morning, for once on dry land (some days I wonder about cows , walk 10 feet from the straw bed to calve in the snow ,but not this mamma!) Up and doing well by the time we met so I guess that April 1 date was off again,but not by much lol. Its OK the weather seems to be good and holding for the next while so away we go !
took these shots late in the day with the sun setting , sure makes the red cows glow!

We have already his temps close to 90, if not 90 already. I will be hotter than Hell before we know it. I will gladly send some to anyone who wants it...
We're still waiting for the first one but I got my calving supplies today!
Look at that snow on the ground still! We have temps in the 70s here, 30s in the mornings. I'm betting on at least one more snow though.

Wow that is always a great achievement ....the first calf!!!!congratulations. We are just about to scan our beefie cows. We have had a whole week of beautiful weather.An Indian summer for sure. Long may it last. In the meantime I hope your weather remains kind as the calves hit the hay
