Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

For the ladies

Today and the past few have been sad days for a few of us. Shirley posted that her Mother in Law passed away, she and Ted will be traveling to the funeral this coming week. My Aunt suffered a cardiac event on Tues, and sadly passed away on Thurs. Many friends and family will spend the upcoming  Mother’s day , in a state of remembrance, for mother's grandmothers, aunts and  friends who have gone on ahead .I , am blessed that my mom has come through  so much and is still with me, but we all know the pain of some loss. Those wonderful women who helped to shape us in our lives and taught us, oh so much. Every spring when the geese arrive I still, so many years later find myself reaching for the phone to call Grandma Blaine. And although I lost her when I was just a kid, my Grandma Horricks , runs through my mind every week when I scrub  my sink and bleach  my dish rag . These women were our foundation, and though they may be gone, they will live on in each of the lives they touched.
I love this song, it touches on so much of who they, and we are. So here, for the ladies..

I'm sorry for your loss. Isn't it amazing that no matter how long they're gone... even when the worst pain has faded... the love stays?

I'm so grateful for those wonderful women I had in my life.

(((hugs))) to you.

Lost a very good friend last Saturday to a drowning accident. She leaves behind two beautiful young daughters. I cannot believe the pain I am feeling and I can't stand to think of what Mother's Day will be like for these girls. Thanks for helping me remember that I can be grateful to have had her in my life.

Sorry for your family's loss. I've never seen this video/song, it's a good one. Dolly is so beautiful, and with her message. I especially like the dark footage with her reflection looking like wings. Thanks for sharing. Hope your mom continues doing well.
