Yesterday we took a little time out . Martin and I went with my sister Heather and brother in law MArc on a little day trip to Jasper. Just a nice day to rest and recharge before the warm days come to an end and Winter is upon us. Jasper National park is one of Alberta's true treasures, beautiful views, the Rocky Mountains at their very finest ,wildlife, and wide open spaces. I was on a trip to denver once years ago, and the cab driver that picked me up at he airport said"While you are here you need to see the mountains " I told him I am from Alberta, and he laughed and said , "nevermind you have seen the best of them" I agree, though I do need to see more from my fellow bloggers in in Colorado , New Mexico, and Nevada. And well all of them , each has shown what beauty surrounds them in each different area. Here is a taste of what we have here
Makes me think of the movie "A river runs through it "
A Picture postcard shot
I swear Martin was having fun, not sure why he would not smile.Hey even I did with my crooked grin, and I rarely do for pics
BIL Marc, looking deep in thought
Deb and Brian recomended this spot , where the Athabasca river and the Maligne river meet , all the times I have been I had never stopped here.
Below is the log Marc kindly put across the water for me to cross,
A log roller, nor a mountain goat will I ever be! took my shoes and socks off and waded through on the return trip, cold but I figure one balancing act per day thanks
Saw this little sign and just loved it and had to share
And we actually bought Martin this shirt, we just had too!
After our walkabout we headed up to Miette hot springs for a soak , then out to dinner . Home by 9:30 . It was a big day , but a good one. Nice to get away to such a beautiful place for a while.Hope everyone had a good weekend .
And as always
Stay safe

You are so right about the Rockies being one of Alberta's treasures. I really love the Kootenay Plains area on Highway 11.
Glad you all had a good "recharge" day- and Martin's shirt had me laughing out loud!
Beautiful scenery, love the "postcard" shot.
I will see the rest of this beautiful country and some of Cananda before I leave this Earth! Until then I live vicariously through yours (and everyone elses) beautiful photographs!!
It does a soul good to get away, even for a day. The shot right before the t-shirt looks exactly like Leavenworth, Wa with the Cascades in the background. Strange feeling ;-)
Beautiful pictures!!
I love the mountains.
Funny shirt!! LOL
Beautiful photos ! Love the scenery soo pretty ! Thanks for sharing it with us . Have a great day !
Beautiful! I wanna go there!
Love that area up there!! But so far away that we generally go to Banff or Canmore much closer. I love the shirt too!!
That is a beautiful place!! Like you, I would have waded across...I'd have fallen for sure trying the log. No one has ever accused me of being graceful. :)
I am hoping for a little time off before the rains begin too. That one week over 4th of July wasn't exactly a relaxing vacation, but it was time off from work. I'm thinking maybe a couple nights at the beach and a couple nights camping in the mountains. We've only gotten away from home that one time in the whole summer, and that's just not enough. Too much work and not enough play makes for a grumpy and dissatisfied me!! So glad you got to have a fun day away from responsibilities. It does a body good!! Oh, LOVE the T-shirt - it's perfect!!
I really enjoyed your photos of your day in Jasper! We have close ties to the Park, I was born in Jasper, my dad moved there in 1921 and was working for Parks Canada when he retired in 1970. Love that T shirt too, always makes me smile when I see it. I miss the mountains, but at least am not too far away and can go whenever I need a fix! LOL Could you see the different colours of the Athabasca and Miette Rivers where they merge? The Miette is usually greener and clearer.
What amazes me about when I see pictures of different landscapes, it feels like almost another planet to me, because I don't travel much. Every place on earth is so unique. There's a commercial of a man walking around and different landscapes are flashing behind him, and I can actually tell exactly where he is in two of the shots because I've been there before, but the rest is so foreign.
So beautiful! I miss the mountains so much!
Beautiful scenery and it sounds like you guys had a wonderful day trip.
Living where I do, I routinely get the opportunity to drive through some beautiful mountain scenery...but I sure don't appreciate it much...It's not nearly as pretty when I am white-knuckling the mountain passes with my big rig. LOL
