Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

the ones that hit ya , right in the heart

Sometimes  you can go along thinking everything is  fine , and it  probably is , then all of a sudden you will see something , and it reduces you to a sobbing snotty nose mass of humanity. Or maybe that's  just me.
The following video is very sweet and well made and I am sure  destined to be another fan favorite if it isn't already in the long  line of Budweiser Clydesdale commercials, but I swear it took me right out at the knees!

Maybe,  because Harley is an only and I am spending more time with him, or because we had a little breakthrough in his ground manners today, or I am tired, or I am the softie my nieces and nephews know me to be . Whatever the reason , I loved it , but it took me 3 tries to watch it dry eyed.

Not much more going on here, eat sleep chores work repeat , all in snappy cold weather the first part of the week .It was well best described by what I had to say on FB on Tues
"-28 C feels like -41 C . Actually should read holycrapitscoldcan'tfeelmyfeetand actuallybelieveImayhavefrozenwhatsleftofmyassoff!!!! And that is in both Fahrenheit and Celsius my friends"

Only marginally warmer yesterday and today was a lovely sunny  much warmer morning , continued to warm up all day and we are expected to be above 0 C  by the weekend ! Weird ? yup .But that's Alberta for you , don't like the weather? give it a minute.
Anyhow that's it for me for now , gotta get out and take some pictures and find something to write about soon!
Stay safe and warm my friends

Oh this brought tears to my eyes as well ! The best add I have ever seen ! Beautiful ! Thanks for sharing. It is a lot colder there then here but yet still cold enough for me I tell ya lol and the winds are just a howling . We have had a mix bag of weather which is weird for Ontario everything from warm temps to rain to thunderstorms to freezing rain to snow and cold ! No sunshine for a week now . Winter can go away now as far as I am concerned ! Stay cozy and have a good day !

Stay warm, I second the "can we just fast forward through february this year" motion.

Hooray for Harley breakthroughs, and get some rest!! Not much longer until your visit to another climate, right?

Yeah, that was pretty sweet. We love every foal, and can only hope for the best for each one of them. Good to hear that Master Harley is coming along. Stay warm, hope you get lots of sunshine now!

This is a wonderful video/commercial... I first saw it today when my sister posted it on FB - one week ago she lost a horse family member (the stud at her farm) ~ I am sure this commercial will bring tears to many eyes!

I hear ya. I've watched that video 5 times since this morning when I first got the link through Facebook...and I still can't keep the tears from flowing.

For me tears begin as soon as the horse's caretaker says goodbye as they load him onto the trailer.

But they really begin to flow when the horse catches sight of his caretaker from across the road, and then I'm a blubbering mess when the horse gallops down the road to his caretaker.

It's that understanding of the deep connection and bond that we can have with horses. Seeing it play out in that ad just brings out all those special emotions.

I am really curious how many men will be wiping away tears during Super Bowl Sunday after watching this video! lol!

Whomever puts their video's together does such a clever well-done job, definitely tugs at the heart strings!! You should tweet Harley's name!

Id id try Shirley, I have a twitter account but have not been very good at being a Twit , or tweeter or whatever . Tried to send 2 choices,Harley was one but my first choice that popped to mind was "Easy Brother" in keeping with he theme of the ad. I am sure they will have better ideas than mine but I figured I would give it a shot

I think this one needs a *NSFW* label. Even without sound...

Sniffle, rubs watery eyes and blames it on allergies.

Having been there a few too many times- it doesn't matter if you raised them from foals or made friends later on in life. When the bond is there and that strong, yeah. WOrds don't cover it.

Part of the reason I lost my composure has to do with a horse a long time ago named Sunshine. Talking with my dad today ,he knew exactly the moment I began to really bawl. When the guy stands in front of the running horse hands up. I could almost feel myself there saying in my mind "easy now , whoa Shiner"

Oh Sherry!!! Not again...you're killing me girlfriend. I guess we're both saps then, because I've watched this 4 times now, and it's less, but I still cannot remain dry-eyed. Just gets me right in the heart every time!! Still think we need to see a "chick-flick" as my hubby calls them...we could cry and blow our noses together. :)
I still LOVE it though!!!

What a sweet commercial! I've never been around horses, and this got to be, so I can only imagine how hard it hits of you who live with horses in their lives! What an incredible relationship it must be. :)
