Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

Wish me luck

Wish me luck! the trailer is hooked on, and packed. Crawling into bed for an early start for the Dan James Clinic . All I have to do in the morning is catch Little Miss "whoa Dammit" and find the place !
Unfortunatley  with  all that  has  been going  on  this spring , I have  not had  much really  any time  with  Cat,I did  finally  brijng  her in  yesterday for a  little while. And I honestly  considered  cancelling  on this  clinic. Biut it is a  ground  handling clinic, and if I cannot  handle a  horse on a  lead... well I better rethink my game plan here. So  we  are  going,a little country  bumpkin ish (Cat  could  stand  to be  more  fit and  needs a  trim) but then  so do I . But  going all the same .
Wouldnt be  the  first time I showed up at an  event a  little out of  the  crowd, and it likely  wont be  the last. I survived having  the only Appy at a few  clinics in  the past and one  particularly  memorable  horse  show (right  smack in the middle  of  Paint and  Quarter horse  central. Where Chips  walked away with Reserve  Champion )
And  I havent  always  had  the  fanciest  truck  trailer  unit, or the "in  vogue"  clothes . But I have  always had  a  horse, and pretty often a fairly  good one, so as I said  wish me luck!
There is a  saying I  like that  goes
"you  can  try  and  fail, just  don't  fail  to try"
See you  soon and  as  always my  friends, stay  safe!

Good for you ! I hope if anything you at least have fun . Who cares if you don't have all the fancy pricey horsey things like the others your heart is in it and you are giving it a go and that's what counts ! I wish you a great day !

Good luck, have a great time, and trust me..there will be plenty who could only dream of having horses as nice as yours.

Larry Trocha always says, by a crappy horse trailer, and spend your money on the horse!
Cuz horse trailers don't win *jack*!
I realize this is just a clinic, but you get my point.

Who needs luck when you have skill and experience. Good you are always willing to learn. When I was growing up I enjoyed going to a show in the only stock truck then walking off with the championship. Beautiful horses by the way.

I hope you have FUN! first off and of course we will all want to hear AAAAAAALLLLLLLL about it... Pic's too if you can manage some (lol!) If it is anything like a lot of clinics, there will be so much info to gather, take in and try to apply- your head may be swirling for a day or two after.
