although little Miss Birdie has dubbed her farm name to be Flutterby, as a nod to the feather on her face. I like it

3 days in a row!

But I have good reason! The Fern Valley “hostage situation“ is resolved. The Drama Queen foaled early this morning. No queen’s ransom required.

So now you know one of the other little projects I had on the go .

Rain , it makes things grow

 I sure hope so because we got a ton of it. mid June we got 11 inches over the course of 5 days, and then Monday night...

So there is that.

July, half the year has gone, and where I have been

 Funny how blogging is something I have loved, and yet I have let it fall away. Why? Not sure , I really prefer it to the other types of sharing yet I default to the quick and easy sometimes. 

The last several months have been busy! I continue to work, and teach Mental Health first Aid,as well as supporting an Equine Assisted learning training in May.

I was invited last fall,and again this spring to speak at a ladies  retreat, meeting ssome wonderful people. 

 I have travelled a bit, for work and pleasure. We had some bad fires in the area, and while we remained safe, I was on standby for several friends and family if they needed a safe place to land. Then as part of my work I was redeployed to support re entry for some evacuees, a few very hot emotional days. 

I am still writing, but nothing as of  yet since Skeeter's story is ready to share. 

And I have had some family stuff going on. For the most part the news is good, but we have had some stressfull times.

I have wondered over tha past few years, if I had already had my last ride, and not known it. With elbow replacements and aging, Cat's eye troubles etc, I just wasn't sure. 

Well I am happy to report, I am not out of the game yet! I had an opportunity to try a horse of a friend of mine ( forgive the commentary , Charlie is a card )

Then we got to see a pro at work! Gideon is who started this horse

Great horse, kid proof, ranch broke, little old arthritic lady safe, but dang he was tall! Charlie sold him at auction, and as I understand it , did very well . He was offered to me at a great price, but height plus the fact that ...

FV Martini Sunset (Sixty ) is started and here, potentially sold but maybe not so wehile he is here I have a horse, added to that I have bought Magic back and I think I have my hands full.

Added to that I have, Foxy and  the litrtle girls to work with , Eurus  has come home to babysit . Anyone who says you can't go home again, never had a home with me! 

Also waiting on Reina to release her very late (for here hostage) 

I have some other projects on the horizon, those who follow Shirley at Ride a good Horse will be aware of one such project. the rest I will save fro another post. Hope you ae all safe and well

I resolve not to resovle

 As 2022 wraps up we often see people making resolutions. To lose weight or to gain momentum in whatever goals they have. I suck at resolutions  I feel like they can be a recipe for disaster and self loathing. If you feel you need a change, then change.

I am not doing the "new year, new me" because I actually kind of like the old me. She is a pretty cool gal, not perfect but I am not really good at perfect either.

Instead of a resolution last year, I made a vision board.I didn't do it January one, actually it took me most of the month to get it to a place where it reflected what I felt Not for specific things, more about feelings. How I wanted to feel in the coming year.

I titled it "Picture the feeling", added photos of things that aligned with how I wanted to feel and a little about how I wanted to get there.

How did it work out for me?

Mid January I accepted a temporay position as an Addiction and Mental Health prevention promotion facilitator. Did I have some imposter syndrome around that? yep, but I gave it my all, including in a particular situation, while I was nervous as all get out to do so, I stood ground, and spoke truth to power, giving voice to a population who trusted me with this task, and therefore had a role in changing the outcome.

As a result when the position ended in October, my manager asked me to continue teaching on a smaller scale and created a permanent casual position to compensate me "adequately for the value of my work!"

I felt better than I have in years and I continued my journey with essential oils and supplements finding new strengths and abilities on my way.

I travelled and kept on "swimming"

And I returned to writing, as I mentioned in previous posts I have a new book out and another few on the go.

And I gave back, I donated, and helped out where I was able and the gift of passing on our blessings is indeed a feeling I will forever be grateful for .

I wasn't in the saddle bit I did spend a lot of time with the horses, and that feeds my soul.

It has been a year! I am proud of the path/story this year as been and I am interested to see what next year brings.

It took me most of Januaryt to create my vision board for last year, and I will take my time again this year, being midful of what I want to feel and how I want to create that.

What I know for sure is that when we believe in ourselves and our purpose we are unstoppable!

When they tell your story let it be the stuff of legends!

Tell Me a Story

 I just realized I had not yet shared this here. I have some updates 

First of all I hope everyone is well and warm, the weather has been, weather.

The fillies are warm n cozy in the barn and weaning has gone well so far.

I wrote another book. not the one I have been working on , that is still in progress, but a little memorial of sorts and a childrens story . The story of Skeeter
