Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

I believe

In the face of such pain and suffering in the world and the tragedy that struck in Connecticut , it can be hard to have faith and to hold on to the belief that there is good in the world. The  joining of our global family in prayer yesterday does show me that there is in fact still good. The stories over the next few day will be about the individual who perpetrated this horrific crime, but also about the heroism of the folks involved. The teacher who hid her students away and stood alone to face her death, and all who stepped up to help and stand for the fallen. Those are the stories I will  remember , when I pray for these families .

Morgan Freeman said;"You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

We cannot repair the damage done or turn back the clock, but evil will only triumph when we stop believing .

 I Believe

I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows,
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows,
I believe for everyone who goes astray,
Someone will come to show the way,
I believe, I believe.

I believe above the storm a smallest prayer
Will still be heard,
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word,
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why,
I believe.

Stay safe my friends

I believe {although very saddened with the events} -- thanks for this post.

I also believe in the good in people. I believe that there really is more good than bad. Unfortunately it seems as though the bad is what makes the head lines. It should not be that way.
I also believe in exactly what Morgan Freeman said. I have said the exact same thing since the very beginning. Interestingly enough, I know that MANY MANY people feel the exact same way. They do not want that cowards name to go down in infamy, yet the news channels and websites, do not care. If I were to google "school shootings" and see a news website that said, "we refuse to put the shooters name in print, but here are the stories of the heroic people" I swear I would never get my news from any other site again but that one!

I agree, it was a sad sad thing that happened. We watched very little of it on the news and am glad to keep it that way. That will be a hard thing to get over, but I do applaud those teachers and principals who were heros in the school.

A truly horrendous and cowardly act of evil...but good will always triumph. I also believe. In spite of such overwhelming grief and sadness, life must go on. The father of that beautiful little girl is a wonderful tribute to that. He and so many others can, and will move forward; and because of that, evil will never win. The news is just a front for a corporation that cares about ratings and profits. Wish it weren't that way, but I too, choose to turn off the display of tragedy and instead offer prayers to the families who are suffering. May God be with us all...
