Welcome to Fern Valley

Here in central Alberta prime farm country,my husband Martin and I work together raising beef cattle and Appaloosa horses. Fern valley appaloosas have long been known for their quality of temperament conformation and color.I have recently rediscovered a love of writing and have published 2 collections of poetry. "Telling Tails" and Tails Trails and Campfire stories" . I look forward to a future spreading my wings as an author and as a horse woman .

Working on it

Still slogging away at my list of things to do. As far as I got decorating was to get out my Christmas table cloths  and put them out . But I am off tomorrow so ,there is hope !
Dandy's new owner did make it out for a brief visit Friday evening , and is hoping to try again Monday in the daylight . She seems very pleased ,commenting on face book 20 min after she left , how she LOVED  her new boy! I have to say ,the more I communicate with this little lady the happier I am about Dandy going to her . Another Fern Valley  colt has hit the  "good owner lottery" I believe!
The book signing was quiet, actually I was a little worried it would be a total wash , but near the end I got a few  people and did actually make some sales . Onoway is a small town and it is pretty close to Christmas so...
Brother in law Marc, my sister Heather and my good friend Deb popped in to hang out with me , and that made a huge difference as well.
Had a visit from my Aunt and cousin as well, then Martin and I headed off to town to do some shopping and have a visit with his folks.
Today , was the Church pageant and Christmas dinner , then off to town again to meet mom and dad and give them a little help with shopping . Aside from the crowds it went well, but I do have to ask why retailers feel the need to park the 1/2 acre fragrance section ,right smack in the entrance ? Seriously ,put it in the back somewhere , where in the unlikely event that I decide I want a migraine I can got there and leave the rest of the shoppers  to their day!
Home now and blogging when I should be writing and addressing Christmas cards. Oh well I am just a renegade! Better get at it! here is a preview
Stay safe and warm everyone!

All those perfume smells in department stores give me a headache too. It's just to much. Not crazy about stores full of scented candles either.

I'm allergic to perfume stuff so... I avoid those areas but it is dreadfully hard when they are at the entrances. I got sprayed a few weeks ago even though I was practically running backwards and saying 'NOOO ALLERGIES'. Lucky was only a little bit that hit skin.

I've not even gotten out the decorative table clothes yet - however I am almost done with shopping.

Hang in there -- this season too shall pass.

Beautiful card and do you EVER take a break? Sheesh! C'mon. You're making the rest of us look bad... ROFL!

You would have hated me... When I was working in retail and first got transfered into the warehouse, I would open every. damn. bottle. of perfume. and. cologne. that. came. in. A spritz here on the box, one there on my arm, another on the other arm, perfume on the back of the guys' vests, cologne for the other gals' vests... everyone came out of the back room stinking like a cheap... yeah, well, you get the idea. And it never bothered me, but everyone else- headaches and more. Christmas, Valentines Day, Mothers Day and Fathers Day were the worst for it and I would open. every. bottle....

You're so brave to be able to do a book signing. So many strangers to meet and talk to, and talk about your book. eek! I'm glad it went well, although a bit quiet.
I haven't been to a mall for years, one of which is the perfume attackers. ugh! I get absolutely sick from strong odors and perfumes. Takes me a couple days to recuperate.
I'm glad to read that Dandy's new owner meets your approval. I hope she keeps in touch after she takes him home, so we can see how he's doing as he grows up.

Cute Christmas card that you designed. :)
